Has anybody on here used one of those small gennys in the engine bay with blower going without any probs . Thinking of getting one just for SHMBO hairdyer and toaster ect , so only short amounts of run time .Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sounds like it could be trouble,(carbon monoxide from the exhaust fumes & petrol vapour etc).

Probably better to connect via the shorepower socket & run it on the bathing platform for the slight amount of time required.
Honda EU10 or Kipor Sinemaster should be ok, just watch the Hairdrier wattage, nice & quiet so no need for neighbour disputes.

Don't be tempted to buy a cheap DIY alternative, you do get what you pay for when it comes to suitcase generators.

Yes used a Honda Eu20i on previous boats, a great little geni and ultra quite and 2kw. But NO WAY should it be used inside, or below deck. It is not possible to duct the exhaust out. Use outside only. Btw petrol below deck on a cruiser could be asking for trouble. Inboard diesel genis like Onan or FischerPanda are really user friendly but are a lot more expensive, but worth it imho.

[/ QUOTE ] Kipor 3000Ti fitted around 3' of eber exhaust duct to the exhaust no problems so far (4 years) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Another reason to buy a Kipor? Do take your point about petrol below decks though - I wonder how petrol engined boats manage it?

I was planning on running the bilge blower at the same time as genny and for 10 to 15 mins after turning off , but take your point about fumes and petrol , BTW my outboard is kept down there to , /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I had a Honda 1.0i quiet too and well performing for my previous 9 mt Sports Cruiser
I used to put in the bow for long usage or in the platform for a short use
only 2 mins to move and remove total for the bow installation
