Portable Gas BBQ?

Been Googling them alright. They seem to be circular, would ideally prefer a rectangular one.

One side of me says "Spent plenty and buy a quality unit, you'll be using it plenty" and other says "Spend £14 on the one posted in this forum, cheap and cheerful, but must use it on pontoon, no rail mount"

Thinking about it, how often am I actually going to use it while onboard? Almost never as I always cook on land. So maybe the cheap option *is* the best. The only disadvantage I can think of it that it doesn't look as pretty, but i'll get over that in about 2.5 seconds /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For me that question was one of the main reasons for my decision to move away from charcoal.

If you wait for it to be cold for tipping in the gash bin it inevitably means leaving it all night. Sod's law states that if you do this the wind will get up or something else will happen, necessitating stowing the barbecue. Some people leave their Magmas rigged all the time but I was not able to.

Otherwise the hot charcoal needs to be tipped overboard, which I always hated doing.

The gas comes in non-reusable cans, but much cheaper than Camping Gaz types if you search around.

Thanks for the link. I was looking at the little grill that goes over the gas ring (as I have one of those gas rings) but think i'm going to go for something a little more substantial - I reckon i'll go with the Royal Table Top BBQ - cheap and cheerful, even if it only lasted me a season i'd be happy with it at the price of £13.95
