Summer has arrived at last and I'm sitting here looking out at the rain.

"Her indoors" thinks we should buy a Portable DVD Player to use on the boat.

Any recommendations for a suitable product [or warnings of duds!], please ?

I don't want to spend more than £80 - £100 on it. It must run off 12 volts.

we bought one last year following reccomendations in autoexpress magazine that had tested them - probably can find it on line?- has proven an excellent bit of kit - used in car and on board and has made noticeable difference to childrens tolerance of some journeys - ours runs on battery or 12v supply or mains - bought it from halfords and so far it has been excellent

We got a Venturer from Asda a couple of years ago. 2 screens, remote control, headphone or speaker, runs perfectly after 2 years of heavy use.
Was just less then £100 at the time.

Yes, good idea! We got a Philips model last year and it got lots of use on the boat. Have a look on Amazon for reviews...and generally don't go for the cheapest in any range. It's very useful to have DivX and MPEG playback and be able to read from an SD card. We downloaded a lot of unwatched TV programmes from our HD recorder and converted to these formats before writing to DVD or SD. Much better than trying to catch-up at home IMHO.
