Port Vauban Lease Renewal Costs!

I had stayed at PV in the summer and got the offer letter, on top of these excessive leases you have to also pay the extra charges, the costs re crazy! There are plenty of very cheap berths just 10 to 100 miles away in Italy and you can always travel down in Summer, we ended up in Genoa not great to stay in during summer but cheap in winter and have the best guy I have every found looking after our boat this winter, that leaves me 20,000 euros to spend on temp berths and fuel this summer assuming we get a summer!!!! this year. This has worked out so well I am going to do the same next year, we don't use the boat in winter anyway but you have plenty of things to see like Florence, Siena etc so great option if you want to tour around by car of course! I cant see PV will get boats to pay this kind of money the demand will surly shrink and prices will have to fall in my opinion but only time will tell.

Maybe we're writing off PV too soon? I received an email this afternoon from the lady who looks after my boat and who also happens to broker berth sales in PV and she tells me she's brokered 20 new berth leases in PV since the lockdown was lifted. And she is only one of a large number of brokers selling berth leases there

I was just going to write that. Boating is inelastic demand (I once did Economics 101, so I’ve probably got it arse about tit). I’ve been through a few recessions here and I’ve always thought, at last my time has come, the Capitainerie will come begging for my money, but it never does. Demand for boat places never goes down

Thats very good J. Have you ever thought about running a country or negotiating a trade deal?:D

Hi,

I wonder the lease story of Port Vauban after January 1st 2022. Does anyone know about what is the new lease system, what are the prices, etc?

I am now on rental at PV since my lease expired on the 31st Dec. I have to say, I am paying £3k less per annum than I did at Port Hamble for the same size boat (T40) so it’s a win for me. Plus PV have really upped their game in customer service. I‘m a happy customer.

Hi Eren,

Long time ?
are you still in PM with one of your boats ?
we are in Sardegna - Cagliari and are have in mind to go back to Croatia - Montengro in one or 2 years ...

PV is a very nice marina, but AFAIK still very expensive, one of the most expensive marina's I know,
so it depends what are your priority's.

What your security of tenure? Are you renting from the council or someone who’s bought the berth?

Mark, hope you’re well mate!!

It‘s done via a private company called Vauban 21 . So similar to MDL or Premier. Annual contract, all official and berth allocated.

Yes thanks ?

Was in PV with my new boat during lockdown en route back to the UK.

Some of the amounts paid by some of my friends for berths there has been eye watering.

You’ve done well.

Give me a call if you fancy a UK boat trip.
