I've spent a lot of time on the water locally and only this weekend spotted one, right next to our MYC mooring.
It hung around for about 10 minutes and we saw it later on near Gillingham. It didn't seem bothered by the other boats and dinghies bombing around on Sunday afternoon.
Our daughter and her friend were very excited by it, trying to get a photo another matter!

Saw one when we were heading into Brightlingsea last Wednesday afternoon but again no chance of a photo...!

Last saturday there was one upstream of Rochester Bridge. It must be good fishing as there is a seal that hangs about near the MikeTwo Bridge as well. Dispite the mud,
the river is realy clean these days. Its no longer necessary to have a stomach pump if you fall in

I was anchored at Mersea Stone on Saturday 18th and saw one swimming around our boat at around 20:00 it was a beautiful sight and one I never expected to see here on the East Coast.
Photos? No... Was too busy shouting the kids and my wife to come and see and looking in amazement.

Fortnight ago in the Irish Sea , realise nowhere near the English East coast but not far from Irish East Coast, does that count ;-)

Last Saturday there was a seal in the marina swimming up and down. A while later he surfaced about 10 feet from our stern with a plaice in its mouth. Battled ensued for several minutes before the seal had his supper.
It was a plaice - too big for the seal's mouth. I thought we only had mullet in the marina. Not an ideal place to catch a bottom feeder

Several groups of porpoises spotted on Tuesday between Scarborough and Spurn Point.
