Fancy a change this week from the Channel Islands. Looking for a nice French town to pop over to. Taking a line from Cherbourg to Dieppe does anyone have any good recommendations please

St Vaast is nice, just east of Cherbourg and round the corner. Les Fuschias restaurant is worth a visit.

As earlier said St Vaast good for a day but beware of lock opening times they are listed on the port website.

Cherbourg is also the place where I first had Steak Tartare. Went on an overnight trip prepping for YM and was suffering from manflu and up to the eyebrows in co-codamol. Thought I was ordering beef wellington, so it was a bit of a surprise when a pile of raw meat with a raw egg in the middle of it was put down in front of me. Blimmin loved it. :encouragement:

I used to do a load of business out in France with a guy who only ever ate Tartare. I was due to go out on a business trip to see him and had a call to say please don't come he has had a massive heart attack and has passed away. It put me off that dish for life
