The tender engine was running a little warm at the end of last season.
Merc 5hp 2 stroke, the pump was serviced and cleaned at the start of the season.
Quite how there was any circulation around there is anyone's guess.
The hole at the top?
That's not supposed to be there !!!

The hardest thing by far is on re-assembly, getting the top of the drive shaft to line up with the socket in the powerhead at the same time as getting the gear shift pole to engage with the clamp.
What worked for me was to use a small bike light shining up the drive shaft to illuminate things.
Everything else is fairly straightforward.
Shims need to be transferred to new pump base.
