Dear Fellow Members

During our annual cruse along the south cost we encountered a problem with our Raymarine chart plotter and called in overnight at Premier Marina Gosport.

On speaking to the marina staff we were directed to the local Raymarine main dealer (Marine Tech 02392525858) and whilst it was after 6.00pm when we arrived decided to call them anyway and leave a message on the answer phone.

The contents and tone of their recorded message took my wife and I by complete surprise, as it was not what we had come to be expected from an official Raymarine dealer representing a global international company.

The following morning we visited the offices of Marine Tech in Endeavor Quay, and was advised by a member of staff that they were unable to help us with our problem as they were basically an engine company, and that the only electrical person they employed was on a part time basis and he was away on two weeks annual leave.

Speaking again with marina staff we were directed to a local specialist electronics company who came on board an hour later, and after a further hour rectified the problem and were able to continue on our journey.

Owning several yachts over the last 35 years of sailing and having Raymarine as our preferred navigation equipment the service we received from there official dealer is less than glowing.
