Ordered a "Anchor light" plus a spare bulb from a on line chandlery,
Guess what! the spare bulb arrived, but not the anchor light, what good is that?
On the invoice it says >
We will send all items as soon as stock is available, you will not be charged extra postage for this service.
"Charged extra" Bloody cheek, I should think not!
Why can't these people inform customers of whether items or in stock or not before sending off a part of the order?
Is it to much to be ask to be kept informed of what is happening ! Like when will it be in stock.
Being trying to e.mail them all day," guess what" their sales address is accepting mail but not
their admin side off things !!!!!!
Yes it is a small order, but out of small acorns! Feel like Im being taken for a ride!

Attn Kim

In days of yore I used to frequent photo.net.

It had a section of dealer recommendations (the US camera trade has a reputation akin to that of a hungry tiger shark), so that before buying anything you could check what experience others had had.

There have consistently been horror stories here about bad service from virtual chandleries. Maybe it's time we too had a rogue's gallery. Nothing libellous - just marks out of ten for service.

Surely I'm not the only person to get junk emails from Compass Marine since joining the YBW forums? Was it they?

In my N.M. post I was thinking of those companies who are exclusively catalogued on the Internet, as opposed to Mail Order operations with other outlets such as hard copy catalogues and or shops.

Good Service

I needed a single chart last week and tried the Internet for a supplier. Most of them wanted a few pounds for delivery/packing. I enquired with S.C.D International Chart Agents via email (sales@scd-charts.co.uk) and they only asked £1 towards postage/packing. Although they did not have this particular chart to hand, they located one later that day and advised me. Payment was quickly made over the phone and the chart arrived 2 days later via first class post. I felt this was an excellent service. Does anyone know better?

You are getting junk emails ? Well personally I'm not sure that Compass have a marketing strategy that complicated!! I have bought from them and never get an email or a full catalogue (just supplements). My Dad who has never bought a thing off them .....ever ..... has the full catalogue sent every year.

Re: Actually I thought I was the only one left! N.

No it was not Compass!
what has upset me is that I have paid nearly £13 including postage for a spare bulb > actually two bulbs and a inline fuse. I should have been notified that the lamp was not in stock and would I
mind waiting,
but to go ahead and debit my account for the spare bulb without supplying the lamp is taking the piss !

Their admin url is not accepting mail, but their sales url is,
so I have sent 3 e.mails to this address and as yet they have not had the curtesy to answer.
Also tried the telephone but that is constantly engaged!

And yes I am getting upset !

Success, they have finally deigned to reply to my e.mails.

Here is a part of what was said

It is not our policy to inform customers as to whether items are in stock at the time of order,
nor is it policy to inform as to when items will be in stock.
As we deal with several hundred orders a day you can understand the reasoning for this.It is for these reasons that I do not personally order goods for myself on the net.
The utility lamp is or should be with you today, I have personly seen to it.

YEH RIGHT !
Well they know what they can do with their policy ........
And I know what I can do with my money.

As the person who mailed me is only a employee and doing a job I feel it would be unfair to him
to name and shame in this instance.
