The wife is doing a charity walk (London to Brighton) on sat/Sunday, ive got to pick her up on Sunday, was going to drive ...But with all the holiday traffic thought about taking the boat!

Anyone done this trip?
I've never travelled this far before, panning to hug the coast all the way till I get there.

any pointers from you more experienced folk!

I have done it in the other direction when we moved the boat from Brighton to Poole.. It's pretty straight forward, about the only thing to keep an eye out for is lobster pots because there are millions of them along the way.. You are probably familiar with leg from Poole to IOW.. On the other side just give Selsey Bill a bit os a wide line and from there its pretty much a straight shot to Brighton.. Can be a bit bumpy coming into Brighton Marina so go out a bit and keep clear of the breakwater.. Other than that enjoy the trip.. :)

That great! Thanks for the info,

yep Poole to IOW is OK, never been to the other side!!

looking forward to it!

Plus 1 I went from portsmouth to Brighton also have done from Poole to portsmouth. Would agree with all that's said. Just watch Selsey bill can be a bit rough and as already said lots of pots in water. No need to hug coast all way can save a few miles with direct route from Selsey to Brighton. You may loose sight of land for a while (depending on visability) but still and easy course. Also again as has been said the swell at the entrance to marine can be quite big but as soon as you get behind the wall it's calm, also be aware I think they have some dredging taking place soon so just check with the marina if there are any restrictions on draft/tine

sea ray 230 overnighter!

still a good idea???

Certainly not a bad idea. For a first-time trip round Selsey, I'd aim to pass through Street and Boulder at slack water. Xcweather is giving gentle northerlies for Sunday, so sea state should be nice. Entrance to Brighton will be fine in those conditions. Have a good trip.
