I heard on the grape vine that it was in imminent danger of going bust the other week, and was saved by a consortium of local business men.
Needless to say, they have put the prices up!
I also heard that Sunseeker (who is part of the consortium) have parked some boats in there to make the place look busy.
Can anyone confirm or refute this scuttlebutt?

I was there this weekend (Sat). Shower block still not available and little in the way of facilities (had to have my G&T without ice for goodness sake!). Staff were apologetic but seemingly resigned to shower problems and prices. Lots of Gin Palaces in the place with "For Sale" signs on them but still lots of empty berths.

On the plus side, it was very peaceful and sheltered and the were staff friendly enough.

Visited Poole Marina (Haven Quay) last Tuesday night (9th) for the first time and paid £30.51 for 36 footer without elec. No discount for mid-week or lack of facilities, but they give away a lot of very pretty (expensive) literature and a business card from the 'boss man'-wow. Lot's of empty berths and motorboats for sale, staff very pleasant but obviously fed-up already with comments regarding showers/toilets. I wonder what their disposition will be like towards the end of the summer as I can see some heated discussions coming up when marina is full and only two male showers available (in a portacabin) for (?)60/70 boats plus what can be moored on the town quay.

Remember how expensive it seemed when it opened? Lots of people predicted that it would be avoided by us impecunious sailors. Seems like this is coming true.

Of course typical bean counter response: Put the prices up....

Ludicrous.

Cheers
