Seen yesterday, Condor fast ferry had a Poole Harbour Commision Jetski riding shotgun off the starboard quarter, presumbly to deter the manic jetski gangs that chase it normally. There were also two Harbourmaster launches and one Harbourmaster Rib in the harbour entrance by the chain ferry. I wonder how much harbour dues could reduce from staff reductions if they simply banned jetskis (sorry PWCs)? The local marine police also have at least one jetski to chase jetskis with.

Also seen was a jetski towing a plastic blow-up jetski, ah how twee, perhaps the owner has other blow-up toys as well?

I overtook a jetski yesterday

It was being towed up the M3 by what I believe the Cousins call a sports ute. Metallic purple pick up with a cab for four and demi-monster tyres. Lots of aerials and spotlights. Says it all, really.

Yours in taste and discretion.

Imagine what a blast it is for the old Bill. 'PC Watson, I'm sorry but you're on jetski duty today. Your mission, should you choose to accept, is to go haring off at 40 kts at the ratepayer's expense.' It's as bad as being a motorcycle cop!

Poor plods can't win really can they. Posts all over the place saying that the way forward is not licensing but better policing, and when someone makes an attempt to police the waters, they get hammered for doing what's been asked for.

I guess that's the nature of forums, everyone wants something different, and no one can do right, and everyone does wrong?

I'm not hammering them, Brendan. I'm just pointing out that being a policeman isn't all hell. Being a jetski policeman for a few weeks a year sounds like better entertainment than most people get from their jobs!

Maybe what they need is 'Specials' who are water based. Volunteers anyone? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
