Poole Bay storm photos

[ QUOTE ]
Would have liked to see the storm 'live'.

I liked storms until I was in my house when it was struck by lightning - HUGE bang, the lid flew off the coke boiler in the kitchen and a flame shot across the room. It put a 12 foot hole in the roof and fried the phone (literally - it was smoking!). I was better of than next door, though. We shared the hole, but it trashed his all mains wiring and everything that was plugged in.

For some reason, I'm less keen now...

pix are taken with a tripod and cable release, medium to fast film. point camera in area of lightning/fireworks, open shutter and close after the flash ends, or with fireworks/lightning, keep open for multiple flashes. usually have lens on wide open and camera set of any auto settings.

Would expect better results with a slowish film and possibly lens not so wide open...?

Or carry a black card, set to bulb or longest exposure. Cover lens with card and remove / replace as appropriate.

Lightning is difficult as you can not determine where and when it will strike. The photograph is pot luck, one of several hundred black shots!
