Of course, not wishing to be picky, but it's what I do well, It would be better if the question revolved around damaging someone's boat.

ah, remeber that almost 70% of people fill in the polls incorrectly with the most nheinous option to make the results more interesting. So I reckon the people who say they wd leave their details are lying, and the people who say they wd sneak off are just causing trouble. So that means er fewer gits possibly, or different ones....

Being truthful, if it was an oldish boat and a minor graze, I would prolly convince myself that I hadn't really hit it.

Anything else, I'd own up. But then I have good insurance cover (I think).

3 years ago I bent an anchor roller on a Ben 36 in the marina when learning with an instructor, felt pretty awful at the time, had a chat to the owner the following weekend and we was very understanding and I felt loads better.

I've been hit twice on my berth now, bent nav light - not too bad, but I wish the low life who bent my pulpit rail and the common decency to own up. You expect this sort of thing with women who can't park their 4x4s in Tesco, but if you hurt someones pride and joy it doesn't take much to let the Marina know and your insurnce will cover it.

There's an old story of someone hitting a parked car in front of 'an audience' and getting out with a pen and paper to leave his details on a note under a wiper blade.
The note read along the lines of "There's a crowd of people watching me thinking I'm leaving my details for you to contact me but, errr, tough ****"
