Given (a) the likelihood of Blair and his henchmen being re-elected and (b) his declared intention of not going for a 4th term, there's a fair chance he'll start acting like a 2nd term american president: nothing to lose and wanting a place in history.

So - any predictions what he might go for as his 'legacy'?

Joining the Euro?
Abolishing capital gains tax relief on houses?
Doubling higher rate tax?

What do you think?

Apparently already gone for the presidential style - as reported by R4 yesterday they held a press conference in a fish market with no fish where none of the press was allowed to ask any questions !

And in terms of what we can expect - think of your worst nightmares and then double it (and to prove this is not party political I expect that should one of the others get in too) - have you ever known a government do something which was of benefit to you ? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

He has already started, with his messing about with Africa, etc.

OK, he will:

1. End world poverty

2. Convert the Bushbaby to Greenery

3. Fix the Middle East

4. Re-establish the Church of Rome as our national religion.

5. Abolish the House of Cronies, as they have not shown enough deference.

6. Find a cure for AIDS.

7. Abolish the Monarchy, and declare himself President for Life.

8. Inherit the mantle of Nelson Mandela as Greatest Living Statesman.

...and the rest...

Well, I'm voting Champagne Charlie this time round.

What all these inflated egos should realise is that we don't want/need leaders, we want someone to represent us.
As soon as they see themselves as leaders they start thinking they're better than us.

<< when the IRA announce it has ceased its existance >>

The trouble is that British politicians are gullible enough to believe it too...!!

John

Tony Blair will be proved right on his policy in Iraq although for the wrong reasons (no wmd)
The stoopid party (conservatives) will be banished to transylvania.
The liberals will once again not be able to apeal to the masses in enough numbers to make a real difference.

Re: they bought a coach & horse ...

.. and drove it thro' the PPF .... might just be the straw (depending on whose figures you believe) that breaks the back of the centre piece of the 2004 Pension Act, the pension protection fund ... good timing, though, don't you think?

He will ensure that all pensioners are able to enjoy a reasonable standard of living.

He will create the honest politician.

He will NOT got to war for spurious reasons.

He will ensure that no further legislation infringing civil liberties is passed.

He will cut taxes.

He will improve public services.

He will ensure that civil servants become just that.

Maybe Das_Boot has a point and we should go for a skipperless parliament. Should go well with the rudderless country. And would it stop the mobo industry going the same way as the car industry?
