Polishing out scratches on NASA instuments

My 4 year old wind, depth etc. cockpit instruments have picked up wear & tear scratches. Nothing big though, just in some lights they are difficult to read. I have heard of some compounds that you can use on mobile `phone screens that very slightly melt the screen to rid the scratches - scary. You only have to get it wrong once with this type of task. Any ideas.

I used Brasso first with one of those posh kitchen rolls (that don't fall to bits) - repeated this a couple of times.

The finished off by repeating except used a duster

Then 'rinsed' or cleaned with water after buffing - result shiny lenses.

I second Brasso - but try the Brasso metal polish wadding.

I used Euthymol toothpaste (or any other slightly abbrasive brand) on my scratched compass bowl. Believe it or not it does the trick!

Yes that may well give better results as when it is fresh IIRC it has judging by the smell it has a very small amount of a solvent in it.

I have a small bottle of plastic polish on board which is a little like T-cut for plastic, I don't know what the brand is though, but it works well.

I just carried out a search and found Renovo Plastic Polish

Interestingly it claims to renovate car hood windows on convertibles. I have never considered trying to polish the windows on the boat canopy, I wonder if this is worth a punt.

We have 3/4 roll of marine canopy glass in the back bedroom and I was going to get my tailor to replace, but I might just try this first..

Not used it so connot comment but the supplier seems to concentrate on scratch removal
