Polishing Machine...... Don't worry it's not the usual polishing thread :)

Of course having a platform means you can move your body, whereas if you are on a ladder you can only lean. Maybe it is how you use it is something also to consider ?

Absolutely Gavin. The student is becoming the master it would seem!!

When polishing properly tons of muscles get worked, stomach, butt, calves, back, triceps. You just don't have that range of movement on a ladder as you do on a platform.

My polisher is about to die, time for a new one.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but it may help others :)

My main issue I found was the weight of the unit being an issue after a few hours. I'm looking for a lightweight polisher, which I know won't be the cheapest.

When Googling I found an old YBW thread and someone recommended this as it's lightweight: http://www.powertoolsalesuk.com/lh18ens.html

Wonder if anyone found anything else, maybe even cheaper? I'm after a rotary, not random orbital.

Flex PE 14-2-150 is about 1.9kg I can't recommend this machine highly enough. It is simply an awesome piece of kit.
The best feature is the lack of noise, which only confirms the build quality. Probably the only polisher you can use and have a softly spoken conversation over the top of.
Its probably available for under £300

Looks the business alright, but couldn't stretch that far. Was hoping £150 max

If you ask maybh1 ever so nicely £150 might get close on the Rupes possibly up for sale soon?
They are also a very good machine, if it's the LH16 then it should weigh the same - 1.9kg, I think the 18 was 2kg so not much difference, but the 18 is slightly bigger.
The Rupes are double geared, so have a slow and soft start, great for avoiding product sling. The biggest bonus of the Rupes is the tourque, you can apply all the pressure you want and they will spin at the same rate.
Only one small negative and that is that they are not anywhere nearly as quiet or cool running as the Flex PE, but a first class pro machine never the less.
