Good to hear you are back to better health, or that is the implication.
Interesting - I used Velox and had no problem with it sticking, I used one of those paint stripper discs you can attach to an angle grinder, which gives a surface so rough it catches skin (almost nasty). Once it i abraded I don't touch it with fingers. I found the anodes lasted longer - but did not have the nouse to think it might be the prop AF - in fact I worried that instead of the anodes wearing something else was disappearing - but found nothing untoward (and promptly for got about it!)
Hand on heart I cannot say Velox is 'better' than Prop Speed, Pro Gold or Trilux but it is easy to apply. From memory Velox and Trilux use the same active ingredient, Velox just has more (and maybe adheres better).
I did try Lanolin, it seemed to attract growth.
I have never tried polishing - its easier (in my mind) to attack with an angle grinder and paint.
I also apply Velox to the sail drive with similar success.
I can get about 12 months from Velox and 2 years from Jotun Quantum Extra (though I don't think the latter is approved in Europe for leisure application). I don't know how long the anodes will last - 2 years + and counting. Cat in Sydney, 2 x 3 bladed Volvo props - in the water, year round.

And I would not have tried Velox had it not been for the reports from Vyv - it needed a reliable and credible endorsement - why else buy an obscure and quite expensive product from an even more obscure manufacturer (no-one has heard of) based in NW Italy. Considering the cost it is not stunning - but you can apply yourself and it appears to be as good a anything else, if not better (and saves anodes),
