I am planning the much needed hull clean in my jaguar 27 prior to going back into the water.

Oxalic acid has been purchased. Will use this to get the tea staining out of the waterline. I think this is good for general oxidation issues isn't it?

After that I need to polish. Was thinking of meguiars.

Do I need to seal or is that enough by itself?

I could get this stuff as a sealing wax layer.

I'm trying to balance cost against doing a good job of it. Have I got it about right?

I've had great results from Meguiars #45 polish, followed by Meguiars #56 wax. Both products are easy to apply by hand and polish off easily too.

I used Turtle Wax from out of the little used car cleaning box last year and was very pleased with the results. It goes on and buffs up real easy too. Probably not so salt resistant as meguiers but much cheaper.

Oh jeez, didn't anyone tell you that if you use TURTLE! wax things float dead in the water and bounce off all passing saily boats making lots of noise and giving the skipper a heart attack. :)

Oxalic acid 7% solution for stains followed by Starbrite marine polish followed by 3M marine wax (the hard stuff) also works well

Very nice. So what did you use in the end? We're planning on a lift out in May, with the same task ahead of us.

Oxalic acid in warm water and washing up liquid. Very effective but watch your skin and eyes.

I bought mer polishand also a finishing wax in the end. Maybe not as good as meguiars but cheaper when considering both. Will be handy for car too and is easy to apply.

Only had time for one coat of polish so far. Enough to seal the pores. Will do another coat of polish and then wax.
