Oh dear. Some serious optimisation needed there.IRC rating is in for the first boat. 1.064.
Punchy.

Just feels like it’s not going to be an all rounder. And then we’re looking at a split in the d/h fleet. The “old” 3200s, 3300s, JPKs etc in about 0.990 to 1.020 and then the new crop, this Pogo and the JPK1050 and Farr X2 much higher.Oh dear. Some serious optimisation needed there.![]()
It’s a pogo so maybe this was the heavy slow version!Call me daft, but with the naming I had assumed it would be something heavier and slower.
Except the reflex weights twice as much. It’s very close to the Reflex 38 we have at our club. Hows that going to work out? Tears before tea time I shouldn’t wonder.
I would expect it to beat a reflex to be honest. Give it a bit of breeze and downwind the reflex won’t see which way it went. A long beat however…It’s very close to the Reflex 38 we have at our club. Hows that going to work out? Tears before tea time I shouldn’t wonder.
But the Pogo does have the advantage of a couple of fat chaps on the rail so when short handed……. Also I suspect the Pogo’s LWL might be closer than appears at first glance.I would expect it to beat a reflex to be honest. Thats the point though. A boat as different as the Pogo is going to have just the same handicapping difficulties as we do.I would expect it to beat a reflex to be honest. Give it a bit of breeze and downwind the reflex won’t see which way it went. A long beat however…
What you don't see is just out of shot is an Anderson 22 the pogo is struggling to keep up with!To be fair, when lit up it does look very fast. I'm prepared to reserve judgement until we have some race data!

Résultat : ça fume dans le sillage et le speedo s’affole ! Le bateau affiche des grosses moyennes et c’est de bonne augure pour les premières courses #irc de la saison qui arrivent à grands pas ! #spiouestfrance #rorcracing #sailing | Pogo - Chantier Naval Structures
About 17-18 kts TWS if I'm reading their instruments right. That’s pretty impressive given the sea state. It doesn’t look that windy. Though it is very very wet. This from a Dragonfly owner. Our speed looks much the same, 18kn or thereabouts. though I think we’d leave it for dead upwind, or on a tighter reach. Righting moment…..
I can’t see that, but if so, that’s round about what we’d do speed wise with 18kn true at 135 deg. A bit more with the wind at 90 deg and no kite. It’s proper wet on a DF920 on a beam reach, not nearly so bad further off the wind. I look forward to meeting one.About 17-18 kts TWS if I'm reading their instruments right.
Yep.2nd overall in the DH IRC class at Spi Ouest. Beaten by a JPK 1050.
IRC Double - Spi Ouest-France Banque Populaire Grand Ouest 2025
Wow, that’s an insane rating for a 34 ft boat!!! What happens on an uphill race?Yep.
Though to be fair the non pro'd up versions of both boats were decidedly mid pack...
I remain slightly concerned that the effect of both of these new launches will be to create a split in the D/H fleet. It's going to be a bit pointless to race a SF3200 or a JPK1010 off about 1.000 against a 1050 rating 1.079.
According to those who were at Spi, it still wins.Wow, that’s an insane rating for a 34 ft boat!!! What happens on an uphill race?
Gosh, I see JP himself was driving. A serious example of putting money where mouth is, huge respect.According to those who were at Spi, it still wins.
