Thanks to everyone who gave me advice in my previous post on planning this passage. Flying Legend is now safely on her new berth in Bristol.

We left Plymouth just after 1100 on Tuesday morning and made it to the bar at CBYC at 7pm on Wednesday evening. We had a completely mixed bag of weather, left in glorious sunshine but Wednesday was cold and wet. Wind on the nose down to Lands End but good once we came around. Neap tides didn't do a lot to help but also did not hinder us Thursday morning we had a great sail across the channel with a following wind. One of my crew who has sailed all over the world had never sailed in the BC before and was amazed at the speed of the neap tide. I'm looking forward to taking him out on a spring!

Once again thanks for all the advice and if you are passing say hello.

Nice one Doug glad it went well look forward to the guided tour next time were up your way.

Looking forward to giving you the tour. I rang you to say we were going in to CBYC but got no reply, assume you were working as Banjo was on her mooring. Very friendly and helpful and the beer was good.

No we came past on Wednesday afternoon. Even if you'd been looking I doubt you would have seen us as it was very murky on the Welsh side, could not see the power station most of the time.

Good goping. Thats an average of 7knots - more if you allow time for the barrage, tying up etc.

I know 7 knots we were impressed too. Mind you locking in at the barrage was easy there was only us and we were only held for a couple of minutes before we came in. A short dash to the visitors pontoon and we were there, two of our number went ashore with the lines and then straight to the bar and two of us tidied up for a couple of minutes. Imagine if we had been weeks at sea!!

We were only there for one night but we will be back. Good beer has that effect. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
