Plough anchor: rubbish?

That mud gets very thin

Much of the Scottish West Coast is mud as well; being deeper anchorages and very old (stable, not shifting), the silt has had time to settle and fill in - thanks to all that glacial run off. The need for a fisherman's or the St I. N.'s is less so than one might think.

With regards to anchoring offshore the trousers place, yes it is a god a place but not a lot of room and a good flow of water passes through, you have to be right in the middle as there are local boats moored.

That mud at Puilladobhrain gets very thin by mid-season ,with so many anchors stirring it up. Gordon

Going 3-4 knots astern I think.
When I skim stones they bounce along the water then slow down and sinks, as my late father said slow down a bit we are in no hurry. Face into tide, drop the hook and let the tide push you back, a little help from the engine to dig it in a bit once it has set is OK.

Last summer I watched two lovely yachts spend over an hour trying to set their anchors as they were too impatient, OK I admit the sight of us all enjoying a fabulous meal of moules frites might have been a distraction for them. They eventually got their moules frites!

Well, I'm anchored there just now, with no worries. Incidentally, there is only one other boat in the anchorage, at a weekend in the middle of May! The other boat is an "unusual" Norwegian motor-sailer, with a door in its side.

And it was only the price that put you off, people have short memories

Not sure what was posted 2weeks ago as you haven't put a link to it.
Almost anything will bend in the right conditions .
Yes the price do put me off , I can buy a 20k Delta for half the price of a 15k Rocna and it will work as well as an Rocna will do .
I think they are well over priced ,
I also carry a fortress and again in more condition it works very well as well as the Bruce that I have ,
