Plotting a route from Helsinki to Odessa

Hi

I work in Ukraine 2 weeks a month and we are expecting a delivery from Finland via sea to the port of Odessa.

We have been told 20 days sailing time between the 2 ports and i wanted to check this.

Is there an equivalent to Google maps for the sea??? that i could even work out how far it is Nm and estimate a vessel speed to see if 20 days is realistic???

Can anyone help???

If you put AIS into google you will find sites like this, which will even tell you where your ship is and it's speed. You will just have to fish around for the area you want.

Sorry to clarify the ship has not left Finland yet, i just wanted to see roughly how long it would take once underway. I didnt think it would be possible in 20 days...??
AIS only shows boats underway and i do not have name of vessel yet.

So I was looking for the Prince Maddog, to see if it was at home or not, so found it here http://www.shipais.com/showship.php?mmsi=235234000 I can see it will be home in about half and hour.

NETPASS.net - cant give you my password, but you can do some 6 or 7 calcultions a day for free...

Netpas gives a distance of 4,565nm and a time of 14.63 days at 13knots.

You can get a free download from www.netpas.net of Netpas Distance. Only limitation as a free user is you can only do 5 calcs a day.

Thanks all for your help. I got the vessel name last night she is SELEN and made her way from Lithuania over to Oxelosund in Sweeden last night. She is due to pick up our cargo in Pori in Finland and head to Odessa.

Fantastic being able to track it all.
