They are all realistic. Get 5 or 6 quotes based on you requirements, look at the terms and conditions and make your choice. You already have 4 recommendations and no doubt the list will go into double figures very quickly. My recommendation is Bishop Skinner.

Also try Haven and GJW, I know the latter was used by a couple of chums and they had their claims dealt with very well.

A survey might be requested on initial joining by some companies , but it's an expensive, hassle thing to do ! St Magerets/ Haven initially asked me for a survey every 2 years, then when I told them their fortune they quickly modified it to ' the last survey will do nicely thanks '

Do shop around,,,

Has anyone found a boat insurance aggregator to compare all these brokers and insurers?
I once logged onto something like 'compare boat insurance' and they were very, expensive, much more so than any individual company I'd asked, and keep e mailing me back.
I use Nobelmarine, who insure through Aviva, or do for me anyway and am happy with them so far, mind you I'm not one for making claims. They were helpful when I left the boat on a mooring all winter, although the actual leaving of the boat on the mooring all winter was a bit of a mistake as I barely used her and she was covered in barnacles all the following summer.

No. There are too many variables. However for a mainstream requirement the major insurers vary very little. On the other some insurers specialized in particular types of business so if you have a requirement out of the mainstream you may have to do a bit more searching.

I wouldn't tit about: get yourself a good broker, who'll get you the best deal and fight your corner with the actual insurance company if they give you any gyp.

I can thoroughly recommend Simon Winter Marine, who is more or less based down in your neck of the woods anyway:

Just hope the 100 quid or so commision he makes does not sway him into selling you what he wants you to buy ?
