Please, please, please, please

Some years ago we did a RTIR which was shortened to finish at Bembridge Ledge.
The wind dropped very soon after the start and coming down past Newtown Creek on the tide there was a raft of several hundred boats none of which had steerage way, with fenders out boats were facing all directions. There was lots of fun and pranks involving water, until the raft drifted down close to Yarmouth where at that time there were several huge admiralty warship mooring buoys.

As the raft swept past the buoys, no one sunk but there was plenty of badly scored gelcoat

"If one group can't clear the line, then the next group wouldn't be able to make it to the line to start either. "

Unless the ISC has gone barmy this year, the start is always on a strong west-going tide, so wind or no wind, you'll be clear of the start line b4 the next part of the crazy gang gets its gun.

God help you if you cross early though - you'll never get back!

You are quite right, of course. The biggies are starting at slack I believe, whereas the fun runners like us will be crossing the line at a couple of knots whether we want to or not.

We are in the same group as the Sunsail fleet, so we will have many examples of how to time it properly ...... won't we? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
