<font color="blue"> I have an Autohelm Wind set of instruments consisting of a wind instrument with 2 buttons, one marked "True/App" and the second is market "<>".
This is connected to a second wind instrument where the wind angles between 60 degrees and the wind direction are expanded and the window in the centre shows "VMG".
These are connected to an ST50 log.

I need to recalibrate the wind instruments and as they do not have a button marked "calibration" I should like to download the manual but first I need to know the model.

Any ideas?

It's the ST50 "Plus" range. One of the changes (compared to the non-Plus) was the button for true or apperent wind direction. I think you need to push it for server seconds for calibration.
The second instrument is the close hauled version that maginfies the to the wind part of the directions.

SOunds like the ST50 ones that I have. I'll try and dig out the instructions for you, but from what I remeber, you push the true/app and hold until CO comes up in the LCD display. You can then more the arrow with the <> button- if you make sure the boat is dead head to wind, this enable you to calibrate it. Unfortunaltey it relies on a bit of luck and judgement. You can also align the sensor by steering 2 complete circles throught the wind, but I'm not sure if this is only on the first power up. It doesn't specify in the instructions.

<font color="blue"> Thanks Jack.
I looked at this manual but the picture shows a "CAL" button which I do not have, mine is for switching between true/apparent.

Is it just the label which is different?

I tried the Rayathon website for guidance but they do not publish a Customer Service email address as far as I can discover.

Thanks for your help.

It is just the label that is different. Works just the same for both operation (ie going between True and Apparant) and for Calibration whether it is labelled "CAL" or "TRUE/APP".

I don't know for how long this occured, but even after they changed the label, the manual delivered with the instrument still showed it as "CAL" /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif.

Thanks for that guys.

I have discovered the problem and solved it.

It seems that if I hold down the True/App button it goes through a number of different modes, including lights and various forms of calibration.

Somebody (probably a scurvy dog) held down the button so that it was reading in feet per second and therefore giving readings of about 5 knots when over on her beam ends.

I had actually noticed the possibility that it was misreading but am glad to have resolved the problem.

Thanks again guys.
