Hi there,
I have just bought a 17 ft cabin cruiser or very similar to a wilson flyer if you will.. I would like to have electronics such as nav lights / gps / vhf . oh and the electric for the outboard.

I am stuck on where to start really, I know to look for deep cycle marine batterys, but beyond that I am lost
Thanks

Hiya
There is much info availalbe here but can you give a bit more info please?

Are you asking which battery to buy? You've already noted that it shoud be deep cylce, but there are other issues like size, gel/wet, which is best value, and to answer that we need to know what size outboard for starters.

Or are you asking how to install it and how exactly to wire it up? In which case, does the boat have existing wiring or is this a start-from-scratch job?

In other words, I'm asking you to be a bit clearer in your question, and give more info on your boat/engine etc :)

Hi there,
I would like to know, what battery to buy, I am starting from scratch, this boat has had no electronics onboard before. (new)

the outboard is 40hp.

more importently I would like to know how to wire it all up!. I have seen these switchboards that I guess you need? The boat is similar to a wilson flyer, with a cabin.

Can a novice do what I want to do, or is it a marine engineer job? Hope that is a tad clearer.
Thanks John
