Morning all, off to Greece for a while later this week, does anyone know if it's ok to take PLB & hand held VHF radio in hand luggage please? Flying with Easyjet...
TIA, David.

They should just come under the list of things to be kept switched off during the flight. If, on the other hand, there's an emergency...

Mike.

You will be fine.

Just make sure the PLB doesn't fire off - the cockpit does monitor 121.5MHz.

Could be interesting reporting a casualty travelling at 550 knots!

Regularly taken VHF but in hold luggage with no problems ever. Haven't got a PLB so not sure but doubt they'd allow it in hand luggage. Also regularly taken Lifejacket with gas unscrewed in hold luggage ok.

I think you're limited to 2 li-ion batteries in hand luggage on EasyJet - so you'd need to check in your phone/laptop/tablet etc.

Thanks for your replies, travelling with no hold baggage so will check on battery limit...

Some check in security folk like the batteries removed....Why not do this before you go and
double wrap each battery in ZipLock Bags.

I had the security remove a battery on a Walkie Talkie and put it in try to put the unwrapped
battery in a holdall side pocket..I was able to stop him and suggested it was a bad alternative
as the side pocket contained keys!!!!!

Don't often use Easyjet but standard airline regulations instruct you to carry lithium batteries as part of cabin baggage. It's easier to put out a fire in the cabin than in the hold.
I have, on BA, Malta Air and Aegean carried laptops, EPIRB's and hand-held vhf in both hold and cabin baggage.

Its the airport security that you need to get through, once they have checked your bags then there are no further checks with Easyjet.
So I'd advise checking the airport web site for their interpretation of the IATA rules here - http://www.iata.org/whatwedo/cargo/dgr/Documents/LithiumBattery_PassengerFlyer.jpg
