I have a McMurdo Fastfind Max and during registration on the Ofcom site, it askes for the Hex and Beacon Serial Number which are not to be found anywhere on the device?

Apart from pulling the red BEACON ACTIVATE button and waiting for the big yellow paraffin guzzling budgie and asking then what thay see on their screen, does anyone know where I can find the info.

All it states on the back is Expiry Date JULY 2015.

I suppose I could wait till 5 November pull the Beacon Activate and use up all my old flares too, it would help them find me? :D :D :D

When I bought mine there was a little oblong sticker in the box(with the instruction manual) which gives the Hex ID number and the GPS/PLB coding. You have to send this to a Coastguard adress which from memory was in Falmouth to register. The Hex and Coding number were also on the box.My PLB is on the boat but I am sure the Hex and coding are also on the back of the PLB

I have just found my copy of the Registration Form sent to EPIRB Registry Southern(Falmouth),Pendennis Point,Castle Drive,Falmouth,Cornwall TR11 4WZ Tele 01326 211569.The form I filled gives boxes to complete for the serial number and the hex number and both say"from the label on the beacon".Your PLB should have a label on the back. The hex number is 15 characters and the serial number is something like S/N210 dash folowed by six numbers.Hope this helps.

I understand the HEX code is a 15 digit hexadecimal (A - F and 0 - 9) ID which should be present on the external labelling of the EPIRB (and also on a separate sticker). May look like a serial number, but there should also be a beacon serial number (9 digits).

The labelling must always remain readable and is part of the 5 yearly service check.

Under the battery!

Excerpt from the McMurdo Fastfind manual:
"Each PLB is programmed with a unique digital identity before reaching the customer.
This 15 digit hexadecimal number appears on the programming information label
located on the back of the PLB (visible when the battery pack is removed), and is preprinted
on the registration card included in the PLB pack. This is the identity which is
transmitted to the satellite system when the PLB is activated"

Thank you everyone and especially Rob Brown. I did look at trying to remove the battery pack and it was very tight but having removed it successfully, the required details were inside. :)

Ofcom updated. Thank you all once more.
