Does anyone have any experience of the Plastimo Rigid Inflatable Tender? Price looks quite good when compared against an 'airdeck' of the same size and I guess that a 'RIB' will give a better ride than an airdeck, particularly as I want to get a decent size engine for it so the kids can enjoy a bit of fun. Comments anyone?

Can't answer your question, but you may be able to answer mine. I have been looking at the Plastimo range from marine superstore and wonder were your purchasing yours from, cos it may be cheaper.

I had a good look at these and was not very impressed with the build quality. I ended up buying a Zodiac 260 Fast Roller , and yes it is a lot more money but I expect it to last a lot longer as well.

Was there anything in particular in the build quality that you didn't like?

You're definitely right about solid floor RIBS being more stable than airdeck ones. I dont know about Plastimo but have you looked at Valiant RIBS. I've had good experience with them and they certainly cheaper than the likes of Avon

Not sure if this is true but someone who should know told me that they are made of an inferior material when compared with some of the more expensive makes and as such will not last as long. Should be easy to check out. Similar situation wiht their fenders - good price but you get what you pay for IMHO.

I looked carefully at the seams and the material itself, and how it was all joined together, and then looked at the Zodiac - and you get what you pay for!

I bought some of their fenders, mainly because of good price, and threw them away after 12 months. Rubbish. IMHO.
I wouldn't buy anything Plastimo out of choice and I have heard professionals speak similarly.
I share Deleted User's views on the Valiant RIBS. Bought one in late 90's and still looks like new. Only used as tender.

Have you tried a Suzumar Rib. I bought a 270 for less than £900. Weights 43kg and got it planing (only just) with a 3.5hp Tohatsu.

So far I'm impressed.
