Hi guys,

I'm in the process of buying a wind vane. Bueget has brought the choice down to the NAVIK and the holland vane kit. I'm anxious about the navik as on line searching for suppliers only brings up the marine mega store. Are these vanes still made and spares avaliable? Anyone out there with one with any advice? Thanks

Jamie

These windvanes are certainly still made and parts backup shouldn't be a problem, they are made by or for Plastimo which is one of the biggest general chandlery suppliers in Europe.
Any chandler who buys from Plastimo (and most of them do) can probably order one if it's in the current cataloge. Maybe best to contact the UK distributo to check availability:

Have you considered the Mister Vee vane?

I am looking at the same models as you and had been thinking about this model - the price is attractive and apparently 3 boats on the Jester Azores trip this year used it.

What do you think? I haven't made up my mind yet either!

Hate to contridict you but Plastimo stopped making them but have promised to supply parts for the foreseaable future. Ive tried to find the manufacturer without success.

Also looking at the Mister Vee system for the Albin Vegas, seems ideal. One of our Vegas has fitted it and will be doing a report soon, he was on teh Jester Rally I believe

The Navik vane is still availabe in the US, $ 2200, google "selfsteering" and/or "navik", you will also find a parts list.
I am selling mine, but it's in Holland.
