Hello all.

Looking for a bit of help again I'm afraid (grovel)

After the OH slaving away all winter to tonce up our old tub, it's finally finished...However we failed the BSC on Friday down to mostly cooker related offences. Tried to fix it up today but it looks like it's beyond help.

We're booked to be craned back in Friday and would ideally like to purchase and install a new hob/grill/cooker by the end of next week. Unfortunately work gets in the way a bit, so it looks like unless we want to buy on t'internet (which I'd rather not) we've got to find somewhere that stocks this kind of thing tomorrow.

Any idea's? I've rung a few places as far afield as Poole, but no luck. Ideally we are looking for a Plastimo 2500, and we are willing to travel up to 100 radius from the big smoke to have a look at one in the flesh before parting with some folding...

Thank you in advance!

Emma

Marine Superstore, Port Solent??

Ahhh, yes. Thank you!

Just found them via the Plastimo website actually & phoned them.

They only have 23 in stock!!!!

Around 80 miles away, so could be on a road trip tomorrow!

Cheers,

Emma

Needless to say our plans for getting the cooker today went out the window this morning when we found issues with the surround (and it's asbestos-ness!).

I've also searched the forum & seen lots of people recommending the Nelson Spinflo as a better bit of kit than the Plastimo 2500 Neptune jobbie (but also more expensive by 50 quid or so).

Does anyone have any experience of either and could offer any advice, I need to get one on order tomorrow really and I'm thinking from just browsing the net that the Nelson looks better built, but as I'll only really be brewing up and cooking the odd brekkie - should I really be worried?

Anything has got to be better than the old Flavel we're replacing.

Oh, errr, I think I've answered my own question there.....

Sorry about the asbestos.

But take heart, when I was on a Scout camp in Cyprus many years ago, their idea of a fun day out was a visit to an asbestos mine:eek:. No ill effects so far, but it was going up conveyor belts and the air was thick with dust.

I suppose I could sue them one day?

More to the point, we have used a Plastimo cooker on 2 boats on the sea over 15 years and found them OK, apart from slight rust. Inland away from a salty atmosphere, they should be better still. They have flame failure device and electric ignition.

Got the Plastimo cooker from Foxes online for £380 including gimbals (may get some ££ for them via Ebay) and postage. Porcelfarce 48 hour delivery and straight swap for the old Calor. No complaints and its done full breakfasts, made shedloads of tea/coffee and done some part-baked rolls so far.

Plastimo

Bought some Plastimo fenders a few years back. Very poor quality and Plastimo Customer Services were totally disinterested.
Never bought anything Plastimo since!

That's brilliant - thank you everyone!!

Ordered the cooker this morning on the phone from Marinestore.co.uk they had loads in stock and offer free next day delivery.

SORTED!
