Granted this is a minor issue, but the ignition system for our plastimo cooker (2 hob, grill and oven) isn't sparking or clicking. Works fine when lit by a lighter.

I've replaced the AA battery and cleaned the contacts in the battery box, but to no change.

Has anyone came across this issue before and is it an easy fix? I'm presuming the ignition system is totally separate from the gas system so OK to DIY fix...

If it's not even clicking then I suspect the trouble is in the switch, which I wouldn't recommend to take apart as I doubt that it is actually serviceable. Probably not worth the bother when you can get one of those independant handheld igniters.

I have a Plastimo oven and the igniter switch on mine is very temperamental.
If you push the switch out you can just put a screwdriver across the terminals to confirm
I haven't found the inclination to source a replacement yet - I just use a gas hob lighter as Hissyfit said

Make sure that the electrode tip is close enough to the burner , less than 1mm.
If that does not work it will be the piezo and I would stick with the hand lighter rather than faff on.

II assume its not working on any of the burners. Therefore probably the spark generator that's at fault or the button .......... unless one electrode is shorting out .

Check all the electrodes
if all appear to be OK then spark replacement generators, and buttons are available from here:- Plastimo Cooker Parts - Ignition System

Personally I'd stick with the gas lighter if it is satisfactory . A "gas match " will be better than a sparky thing for the oven and grill

Its battery operated not piezo

There are both replacement piezo and battery operated burner igniters on E Bay.

I have been considering getting one for my domestic galley hob as mine galley hob igniter is mains powered.
