Plastic Padding Gelcoat Filler. MEKP?

Thanks Vic...starting to wonder if it is just a matter of colour. But the hardener in the tube supplied with my gelcoat filler itself, is also yellow! Although, the mixed results were perfectly white.

That's very odd. I'm certain mine was white. Made it difficult to know when mixed. That's why the normal stuff is strongly coloured.
I note on SN website the product has become "Loctite 3024" in the picture but the Loctite website does not list it. (They are all part of Henkel.)

And there's more...

Possibly then, P&B have just sent me the wrong product...though I can hardly blame them for Plastic Padding's failure to label their stuff clearly.

The "Extra Hardener for Gelcoat Filler" advertised by Pinnell & Bax is also shown in six-gram tubes...

...but the tube sent to me is definitely a sixteen-gram size. That might sound like a minor upgrade to be glad about, but the tube of hardener supplied with the original gelcoat filler was conspicuously smaller than the 16g tube...

...so again, I suspect Pinnell & Bax, (and very possibly all the other chandleries who copy-and-paste the manufacturer's non-specific advice into their online sales pages) simply don't know one product from another.

It's maddening because it could so easily be sorted out by the manufacturers, if they'd just give each type a name or code-number (rising above language), to particularise.

Bloomin' irritating.

The yellow peril

Here's a pic of both hardeners.

I've included the large tube of gelcoat filler itself in the photo, which I hope indicates why I believed the supplied hardener was yellow...

...it's paler, but definitely yellow compared with the filler.

Either way, it's pretty clear to me that the larger tube of hardener (supplied by Pinnell & Bax, and various others, as Gelcoat Hardener, 6g) is actually the 16g tube suitable for other Plastic Padding fillers...so as I thought, the chandlers don't understand the distinction any better than I do...

...so I suppose the only question remaining, is, ought I to expect a mix with the dark yellow hardener, to give the same results but in an off-white shade?

Personally, I have had poor results with gelcoat filler compared to 'real gelcoat'.
The plastic padding stuff I used turned grey after a couple of years.
It is good for a quick repair to keep the water out, but if you have time and want to do a proper job, I'd suggest getting some proper gelcoat.
It's often possible to scrounge enough for a small job from someone who's bought a kilo.....
