Plans for Bembridge Harbour.

Re: Berthed near Yacht Club ....

Intrigued by all the babble about extending car parks, didn't realise there was so much competition for car parking around Bembridge Harbour. There again, it being a harbour I have tended to go there by boat. If I need to cross the harbour I used the tender (or water taxi if really hammered). Ste helen's and Bembridge are walking distance. 'Fess up, who hasn't ended up walking round the harbour having been taking refreshment on the far side until after the water taxi finished or there wasn't enough water for your tender by the YC:-)

and more locals will not have their moorings renewed.

I'm not local to anywhere watery but if a harbour authority decides to abandon the "locals" it doesn't deserve to be in charge. What are the "locals" supposed to do, commute to Cowes?

Yarmouth may frustrate in only allowing permanent berths to "locals", but as an outsider this seems a preferable arrangement to kicking them out.

Re: Berthed near Yacht Club ....

I don't think it is a case of booting out the locals, more a case of them having to pay the market rate. There is sometimes an unrealistic expectation on pricing on the Isle of Wight - there is sometimes the view expressed that we are 10 years behind over here, this applies to prices sometimes as well.
