In the event that I might buy another boat I am contacting local engineers and suppliers to gauge the local scene as regards the engine on the boat.Youtude has a few vids of the engine showing how to service which thankfully does seem to involve living on my back and fiddling with a oil filter!.

Had a quick reply from the supplier in Vigo…….he said it’s an old engine but we can get spares, what do you need!…..sounds hopefull
Ages ago I got a repair carried out to a starter motor on an old Kiboto engine. Was delivering a Prout from the Clyde to Gib.

I took it off and wandered around until I found a car mechanic. No Google, mobile phones or anything then!

Mechanic and his mate took it in. Fixed it, cleaned it, repainted it and came to the boat to install it. Worked perfectly. I've liked Vigo ever since!

Oh, the bill was in pesetas BTW. :)

Dear Capitano. For some reason you are being ignored by me god knows how ! but yes Vigo is one of those seaports that you can get anything fixed or made. The Spanish know how and craftsmanship is excellent from big ships to luxuary yachts

If Wansy put one euro in a pot every time he contacted an owner or a tradesperson or a marina or club and put them to effort for his non intent.

Why, he would surely have enough euros by now to buy a decent, reliable, nice, resell-able, normal, joyful boat!🤩

Instead of more clapped out ‘ bring on the worry’ floating money pits😳

It would seem that he takes on board ( eh?) nothing from all the responses made on here over the years to his endless circular musings

I do find it all a bit ‘odd’

It was a preemptive inquired and was no problem and they wrote in English although I had written in Spanish

El comprador de barco, surely.

I have nothing serious to add, but:

I keep misreading the title of this thread as "planing". The first time, I was mildly shocked at the mental image of Wansworth checking out a planing race yacht.

Over repeat exposures the mental image, on its way from startling to comical, has somehow acquired soggy deck core and a dinette.
