Marinas in Malahide, Howth, Poolbeg, Dun Laoghaire & Greystones. None are cheap. Poolbeg usually seems pretty full. Might be the cheapest, but you'd need to check. The others are all close to DART stations so easy transport into town to meet your friends. M, DL & G have lots of empty spaces, H less so the last time I looked, but they'll fit you in.

No need to be intimidated by the entrace to Malahide - assume CD for your tidal calculations and all should be fine (it's usually dredged deeper than that). By the time you can chat to people on the beach you've passed the awkward bit. Strong easterlies an exception of course.

Worth contacting one of the Dun Laoghaire yacht clubs to see what they have - maybe a spare mooring in the harbour or a berth alongside on the club pontoon. Clubs are DMYC, RIYC, RStGYC & NYC.

Skerries is a commonly used anchorage in North County Dublin. Exposed to E & N. YC have been known to come out with an invite to the clubhouse.

Dublin City Moorings seem to be permanently unavailable now (unless you can surreptitiously follow a passing tall ship or naval vessel under the bridges).

DL is the easiest to get into Dublin - the DRAT is just over the road and every train goes there. G and M do not have every DRAT train from Dublin going to those destinations. There's a nice old house that's worth a visit in M though, and the cliff walk north from G is worth doing if you end up there.

Was going to recommend City Moorings - last time I used them they were cheap and secure. Having looked at the website 35 Euros / night for a 10m boat, with poor access and no security seems a bit of a joke.

The marina at DL has unserviced pontoons on the West Bight that are cheaper than in the main marina.

I've tried to get into Malahide on the back of my tidal calculations which gave me a half metre to spare under the keel and brushed the bottom at the safe water mark - the sand can shift. Once you're in the channel (near low tide) it can feel like you only need to reach out and touch the waters edge .....

DL Harbour Authority have seriously cut back on the No. of swinging moorings in the harbour, not much slack there. They are gearing up to attract cruise ships into the port - they'll need plenty of turning room and the moorings had to go. Haven't seen a floating block of flats there yet though......
