tarmac is denser than either, which is why boats sit much higher on the hard, apparently.

Thanks - who said the Intercepter was a heavy lump.

Yes I have tried 3 people sitting on the bow and a full water tank - no good.

Good idea but have you any suggestions how big or what angle these bits of metal should be ?

Putting weight forward helps to push the nose down thereby flattening out the angle of boat therefore makes it easier to get over the hump. Once on plane then you want the weight aft.

Matts - Thanks for reply

Water tank in bow - when full this should help keep the bow down shouldn't it?

By the way Gillian objects to being compared to ballast but we have tried that anyway and even with three people sitting on the bow rail it still will not lift.

scottie - thanks for reply - is the carbs the only difference between the 115 & 130 HP engines.

Can you recommend and breakers?

well sort of - but if you have three on the bow and a tank full of water there's an extra half a ton or so. try leaving the lot on the pontoon. No offence to wife or you but planing-wise you are either driving it - otherwise ballast or dead weight or luggage!

don't worry interceptor. AB was making lighthearted joke having sen that your occupation things says funeral director, so perhaps walking slowly funeral cortege? yes not very funny, but all part of lighthearted (and sometime daft ridiculours twaddle infested) advice hereabouts. Like real life I spose. The enginey things seem ok BUT (taking opportunity having butted in) our tender can plane with two in, not four. It's a weight thing. Empty the water, get tanks low, low weight and it';ll plane alright.

aq115 to aq130

the inlet manifold has to changed as the 130 has 2 carbs also the throttle linkage is altered

the exhaust outlet for the 100 drive is at the front and goes out seperate from drive but this wont matter as it is a drive difference
sorry dont know any braeker but this is the place to find out
theonly intercepter I know that planes is one that had nothing in it ecept the driver and nothing else but there was a lot of trying to get them to plane but never found another that did with 115

Motorbikes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Started off racing in the 125 class finished in 1981 riding a 250 Suzuki.

Never heard of Clive whatsisname but did take part in race meetings with the likes of Roger Marshall, Ron Haslam and Carl Fogarty's dad George.

Just sold an FZR 600 cos I needed more money to spend on the boat.

Nah, I've never heard of Clive hoojie either.

I had a Rickman framed Trident (R545 where are you now?!). Used to do the same races as Brian Morrison and Niall MacKenzie....only they didn't know it!!

Still got a road T150V under rebuild, and a couple of others.

I know a lot of ex-racers that have boats now, funny that.

Mine used to plane...

In a previous life, before I realised that sticks and string were much more nautical, I had a 22ft Birchwood with 115 Volvo. I bought it new (in about 1974), and kept it on the Norfolk Broads (fresh water). When the bottom was clean, it would plane (with 2 people on board) but I have to confess it was never too enthusiastic about doing it. I didn't have any trim tabs or similar aids, but the engine was new so it would probably have been generating the theoretical max power.
