Being a simple sailor, I rely on the law of the realm to guide me. While reading The Commercial Agents (Council Directive) Regualtions 1993 (don't ask). I came across the following statement:

'.....and subsequent periods shall run from that date in the third month thereafter or the beginning of the fourth month, whichever is the sooner.'

I am proably being dim - can anyone tell me when the fourth month thereafter is sooner than the third?

If the date is the 29th, then in February you would either wait four years or accept 1 March as being sooner. If the date was the 31st there would also be a case for accepting the 1st of the next month in a 30-day month
