I'll be hibernating soon, when the clocks change. I know there can be great winter days, but when you live 90 miles from the boat, and its only day between 8am and 4pm, hibernation is the best policy, I reckon,
My plan is to give up on the forum because it is so s l o w.
Instead I watched some rugby, all the Welsh teams won their EDF games - (say nothing, just in case)
I'm glad I fuelled up two weeks ago, it doesn't look very promising for any more boating before the clocks go back.
2nd weekend of trying my new engine, very few boats out today between Hurley & Henley. But still a pleasant ride out this afternoon, the rain had stopped, the locks were manned, and no yellow boards yet.
Had my best ever drinking session on Friday: It started in the harbour in Monaco and finished in my shed on Church Island. Was woken by SWMBO with friends who "needed" a lift back to PH, so did that on Saturday morning. Saw rr_123, possibly with a female but need confirmation. Met an old friend in PH lock who was with the guy who owns Allouette (for anyone local). Got home and then went back to The Swan to avoid childtype things in my local. Good SWMBO curry. Considered buying an outboard for Conkers this morning but then saw the rain. It is SWMBO's birthday tomorrow so took her for lunch at the Runnymede.... by CAR. Saw All Gold was at The Swan ond considered that as a possible visit, depending on the provenance of the female. Quietly watched an NB fail to figure out how to work the lock and wait for attention. I went to help after an hour....
Had te mother of all hangovers yesterday, but eventually got motivated enough to head off to Stamford bridge, and even persuaded SWMBO to come along as well! Very unusual for us not to be out on the boat at all on the weekend, but I did pop down Friday after work just to check on fridge supplies. Needless to say, have already been on the weather sites checking out forecasts for this weekend, and Friday and Saturday looking like great weather. Need to fill up with diesel as well, so will be ringing PH and Shepperton to see what their prices are, as she will need about 450 litres or thereabouts...
