Now that weve got Mucky Farters super new dinghy. It says on the tin, good for F6 or 2 metre waves!! Went up the Tamar a few weeks ago, had not beeen up there fore years and only when weather was to crap to go out to sea. So I'm thinking of exploring all the nooks and cranies. Theres loads of places, but they all have the air of private, or not wanting visitors. Others with 30 metres showing on the depth guage and only yards off the beach, so no way to anchor. So. The chalenge. Find me some places to go whilst its winter.

Failing That The Boringdon Arms with a good fire is an acceptable substitute to the above.

Kingsbridge on the tide but it gets a bit narrow where our boat is so mind what you're doing/forums/images/icons/smile.gif. Actually, unlike Salcombe, the place doesn't become a ghost town in Winter. The Ship Inn has been done up recently and serves reasonable food.
South Pool - dinghy pontoon and short walk to lovely little pub.
Dartmouth and then catch the bus to Kingsbridge - No.93. Make sure it's a double decker and sit at the front of the top deck. They run every hour and every other one is a double decker. Views are fantastic - trip takes an hour. Can shorten it by only doing the Dartmouth to Torcross bit but you would still need to wait for the same double decker on its way back.
Dartmouth and catch the train from Kingswear to Paignton, then bus to Totnes and ferry back to Dartmouth .
Bantham (R.Avon). You could probably get MF in there but it would be a bit hairy and local knowledge needed. Only attempt 1hr either side of HW and run is vicious at Springs. Safer alternative in offshore winds only is to anchor and take dinghy in - 2hrs before HW probably. Keep close in to cliffs to port til you come to white marker and then just past it - say 50yds - turn hard to starboard and go through narrow entrance. It's quite feasible to get dinghy up to Aveton Gifford - pretty run - though not much there. Super pub at Bantham though.
You probably know all of this so sorry if this is a "suck eggs" post.
