If the wind is in the east, and you're confident it will stay there, drying out alongside the root of Beaumaris pier is an option. Lying inside the concrete jetty SSE of Bangor pier, where your keels will sink completely into soft mud, is also an option.
There's a designated anchorage 2 cables SSE of Beamaris pier but it's not the most comfortable place except in settled weather.

just wondering - so if the bilge keels sink into mud do boats ever get stuck there when the tide comes back in ? (guessing not, but it's been one of the newbie questions I've had in the back of my mind)

If you are interested in joining with experienced and less so boaters, cruisingView attachment 155651 in company is a good way to make new friends and gain confidence.

This group is from the Royal Welsh Yacht Club and made their way to Cemaes Via Moelfre and are returning back for shelter into the Strait tonight. Their choice of anchorages usually involves pubs or beach bbqs.

I tagged onto one of their cruises in company around the Island 15 years ago. I didn't need to as I have sailed around Anglsey on and off for 57 years. There are other clubs in our area but none of them have a clubhouse or bar to match!

Recent events for me have shown the significant benefit of being a member of a thriving club and boating community.

honestly tbh I can well see the appeal of clubs for many reasons (especially for novices like us) but we pretty much tend to do our own thing (also for many reasons - we're mostly socially awkward rather than antisocial)

but am glad there's lots of clubs out there and never know we might join one someday

I stayed there on my Hunter 27 for many nights when I was at Bangor Uni. Floated every time without issue.

out of interest for the concrete quay - which side did you come alongside of (between the jetty and the pier or the other side) ?

or are either sides of the jetty ok?

I anchored near Porth Penryn once at low water waiting for the high tide to get in. I woke up at 3am with my anchor alarm buzzing, and I was on the opposite side of the straits near the Gazelle area.
