A chat to a one man band type engine reconditioner might be an idea if you can find one as they can be pretty resourceful at finding parts. Members of classic car clubs and the like often have good channels for odd parts. It will be a lot easier if you still have the old piston for them to measure.

Good luck

Marine engines are often based on some other kind of engine or use parts of other engines.

Bearings and seals are often standard parts and if you know the number any bearing factor should be able to provide. Don't kniow if same for pistons.

I seem to recall someone telling me once that the old Brit marine engines had Ford Cortina pistons ... though that may just have been an excuse to have fluffy dice in his windows.

A while back I was going to buy a set of rings for a Volvo until I found out the price !
I tried various other sources with no success, one dealer told me that the rings for most volvo
engines are unique to that engine. maybe someone can verify that or not as the case may be !

I assume your AE pistons are Hepolite. You will find many sites on Google which respond to a Hepolite search for example www.ferriday.co.uk

go to an engine reconditioner (an old established one!) they will be able to source piston, and/or bore to size. i know lombardini ar elisted in the AE book, as iv'e seen it when i was rebuilding a slanzi.

as for the other (v**vo) rings thing.... bolocks actually. nearly all are based on the "car" or "truck" variant. and as such can be rebuilt cheaply using pattern parts.

good luck.

Thanks for the responce, l am aware that pistons can be made and l have an approx of $330 but l know the pistons are AE ( but no part number as l had to wreck the piston getting it out) but l am unable to get a part catalogue in Kalgoorlie Weastern Australia. Hence the request for a internet cat site.
Any other help regarding Arona would be great.
Thanks Kevin

The engine I wanted rings for was > V.P - M D 7.B < this engine is not I think derived
from a vehicle engine, but possibly the pistons etc. are !
But agree the later engine are derived from commercial motors. Anyway a couple of suppliers told me
I would have to get the rings from V.P or one of its agents, this was after checking the diameter
of the piston and checking against there catalogues,
