Which illustrates the point I made earlier that the shocking state of most African countries (and many others in other regions) is the product of a gang of western millionaires doing business with gangs of African millionaires to exploit those countries' resources.

Somalia's 'misfortune' is not to have anything that our crooks and their crooks can work together on.

Correct me if I'm wrong,but I think if someone is in an outboard powered boat any more than ,say,200miles from land(I think that is being generous in the extreme) AND are armed then their intentions and identity are pretty clear. If they've dumped the arms then STILL I need a logical explanation as to why they are there.

The 'mothership' fishing boat---no fish on board----obvious ----sink it.

AND I still think the ransoms end up in banks so track them down--give our otherwise useless w- sorry--bankers something to do.

So anyone with no weapons wouldn't be killed? Anyone with fish wouldn't be killed? Don't you see how easy it is for pirates to get round those limitations?

It is easy to identify pirates , to suggest otherwise is silly.I see you are back spouting utter pish.
 
Blow the hell out of them....they might get the message. No point in pussy footing around when they know the RN won't do anything. In the grand scheme of things a few armed helicopters isn't really that much cost compared to other issues our forces are doing.

I have to disagree. There are small fishing skiffs here and there virtually all the way between Yemen and India and I suspect further south as well. They stay out for weeks. Many yachts that have sailed in the area report how they have been "chased", "attacked" or whatever by small vessels that then turned out to be fishermen which most of the time are looking to trade some fish for drinking water. Last year a yacht convoy was mistaken as a group of pirate vessels in local VHF transmissions. To say that the pirates are easy to identify is nonsens.
 
im sure with the number of with number of ships out there looking for pirates that some shipping lanes with convoys and escorts. word could soon be spread amongst the fisherman and from a certain date shot across the bow then a shot through the bow.

In these PC times important to be fair - I'd also shoot every white Somali pirate :D

The answer is flamethrowers and crucifixtions.

Q ships (and yachts) with flame throwers :cool:

and on special days (Easter & Xmas :p) I would run a captured pirate mothership ashore near a pirate settlement / town - with the crew nailed high to burning crucifixs along the deck. (you could even carbon offset the flaming pirates :cool:).

I am sure even that would not deter everyone - so you do a raid ashore and crucify the townspeople along the cliff or beach. and then flatten the town.

When fighting a war any rules are agreed, not automatic...........
