Dear All,

Apologies if I should have run this past the East Coast Commitee first....

But we were so looking forward to last years Pirate weekend and it got rained off (although some intrepid East Coasters still went!!).

So... I thought it would be good idea to get a date in the diary, so our suggestion is Sunday the 26th August (bank holiday weekend).

Usual location Walton back waters.

Shivver me timbers!!

Ian n Sarah

Note that the Walton & Frinton Yacht Club have their Stone Point Day that weekend so if you are aiming for the same location it could be a bit busy!

Thanks for the heads up on that.

Two options now....

Change date?

Change venue? Brightlingsea pontoon, Osea (after all, they need to get back in the locals good books!), the mudflats where they play cricket at low tide on the crouch, or even at a marina? Suggestions welcome!

Ian and Sarah

I'd prefer a change in date.

July 7th or 21st. Low water is in the evening, so plenty of room for the bonfire (and mud!).

British Grand Prix is 8th, so 21st?

Sunday easier than Saturday. 22nd?

Are all the kids on holiday by then, if not then Sunday could be pretty tricky for some. In any case Sunday would make it essential to take Monday off work which may not be too popular. (Doesn't make too much difference for us as we usually take Friday Monday off anyway for Pirate weekend)

same, here, but I was planning to take Monday off as the contingency. If it was on a Sunday I'd have to take Monday AND Tuesday.

Strong preference here for a Saturday and also in July because Taran is away for the whole of August.

Happy someone else is organising this though! And I will, obviously, go with the flow! :D

We always miss this as we usually have hols the first two or three weeks of July.
This year we have those weeks again as we wanted to avoid the Olympic/Paralymic regattas as we head West or return.

Ditto - July & August fully booked.
First 2 weeks of July: working
Next 5 weeks: off on Summer (fingers crossed) cruise - abroad (away from the Olympic madhouse)
Last 2 weeks of August: working

Saturday 21st July would get my vote.
Sunday would not work as some of my crew will have to be back to work on the Monday without fail.

Sadly the 21st July is out for us (Jeanneau Weekend in the Orwell).

What about the 4th of August?

Is it worth putting say 3 dates to the vote and see what we come up with??

If anyone knows how to do those "votey things" please can you add one in.

The dates 21st July, 4th August.... and one more.

Cheers

Ian and Sarah

As has been said in another thread.

a meet up on Stone Point Walton
kids have fun
adults have a drinkies or two
a big bonfire general mayhem & a treasure hunt
then all the anchors drag at the same time
Some people dry out their craft on the beach :o

And everyone dress's as a pirate!!! I've already got the wifes outfit!! ;)

and don't forget the wood.

Burning raw meat on a BBQ also happens quite a lot.

Great fun event.
If it is a good weather weekend you can expect about 100+ like minded folk on the beach.
