Hi all,, I've recently purchased a steady 400 as a upgrade from my aluminium boat (a modified pearly miss) the boat came with a 2017 tohatsu 20hp low hours and a clean engine... The issue i got is i bought a brand new 15 hp tohatsu last year and was hoping to put that engine on it as its an efi and not carburettor as the 20hp... I haven't tried the boat on the water yet but was wondering if anyone on here has a steady 400 with a 15hp four-stroke? What speed would i expect? The aluminium boat would hit 20 knots wot with just me in the boat,,, i don't expect the steady 400 to reach anywhere near that but was hoping it would do about 14.... I know I should just try both but due to work commitments I am unable to till next year.. whats your opinions? Keep the 15, , keep the 20 or trade in both for a 30hp... a lot of questions I know but thanks a lot if any of you can help.

I suppose it depends how fast you want to go and wether you will take passengers and kit etc. If it were me I'd trade both engines and buy the biggest rated engine for the boat.
