Pics from sibs - inc Hardy 62

"Because the people who think that interior is 'nice and anyway I don't like modern' haven't got the money to buy one so are basically an irrelevance"

The buyer of that boat specced like that and he did have the money to buy it..:)

Sunseekers attitude (that you just never know what your customer looks like, so let them all in), is the right one.
Well, I guess it doesn't pay to be choosy with the look, when you sell your stuff to drug smugglers! :D :D :D
With apologies to the honest hard workers among s/skr owners, but I just couldn't resist...

Game set and match to you Fred!!

I have yet to see the Hardy so my comments were a generalisation. And yes the Aquastar looks great, but again not seen it in the flesh. But I have spent quite a ilot of time on a few Hardy 50s and they are fabulous boats.

Being at the top of their industry, some high ranking drug smugglers look the same as a top CEO (they do exactly the same work whilst also having to evade the law) ;)

All the Hardy owners I know tend to be skippers with a few boat types and sea miles under their belt.

Like the shape of the Hardy but don't like the grey colour especially where white accessories are fitted. Looking at the pictures you don't get the feeling that you are looking at a new boat but maybe typical buyers for a Hardy prefer the traditional look of the fitments

Remember, Hardy is all about customisation. They will build with white gelcoat or grey, blue hull or white with the traditional hardy blue stripe...

The rnli 42's are grey top sides and blue hulls, perhaps that appealed to the chap who spec'ed this new 62.

Personally I would go for that traditional hardy colours rather than the grey and blue.

Thanks for that, I wasn't aware the grey was a custom spec, in which case fair play to the person who's paying for it.

I can't help thinking the person paying for it might have been ex-Navy?
It makes more sense if you imagine everyone on board wearing uniform.

Possible that the owner has specced that grey for the very good practical reason that unlike white it will not show up every minor mark and non-boat shoe scuff and then look scuzzy 24 hours after cleaning and polishing.
A quick hose down with water and back to presentable.
Perhaps attempt to stop several acres of shiney white glassfibre reflecting strong sunlight back directly into your eyeballs. ?

Only to say that as I understand it, a buyer did buy the boat initially but then pulled out. Maybe he saw the interior and took fright! Anyway I think some comments on the new 62 are a bit harsh. Considering that the main man behind Hardy sadly passed away recently and ownership of the company has since changed hands, I think they've done very well to get the 62 to this state and be able to show it at SIBS. Obviously what it needs is for some experienced and knowledgeable buyers to work with the yard to refine the design of the boat because IMHO, the basic hull design and interior layout (except IMHO for the galley down arrangement) is excellent. As for the interior furnishings, I'm sure that Hardy offer a level of customisation and they could do the 2nd division footballer's mansion style that obviously some forumites crave;)

Presumably said buyer lost his deposit. Mark Funnels death was obviously quite a blow to Hardy, so hats off to them for progressing the 62 as far as they have. And yes they do/did offer a fair amount of customisation. I take it you've been on board, Mike?

I do like the Hardy 62.........but until I win the lottery don't think will ever be on my shopping list! Still don't have any details on their website about her yet......
