The golf course has been described by Nick Faldo as the most beautiful golf course in the world. Unfortunately, the club is too up it's own arse to allow mere mortals like me to play as a visitor so only a few well heeled members and a couple of hundred tour pros once a year are going to be able to experience it. This is in contrast to other famous courses in Scotland like St Andrews and Carnoustie which are still nominally public courses and which you can play just be ringing them up and reserving a tee time although I doubt you'd get a round at St Andrews until after Sunday!

Yes, completely agree.
They did make it very difficult to join, to begin with it was only open to over Seas members, but now adays, its open to Joe Public, as long as you have the £25k joining fee and the £8k-£10k annual fees. So i think you either need to be famous or stinking rich to play there.

Funny though, they are building a new course right next door to it, should be open next year.

This kind of thing has happened down sarf here as well. Developers get planning permission for hotel/golf course complexes on condition that the facilities are available to the general public but then the fees are set so that only very rich members of the general public can enjoy those facilities

Dunno if it's 50 or 55...but it's HUGE and runs outa Cameron House(I think??) /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

It buzzed me a couple of weekends ago just off Luss pier, the wake nearly drowned me /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif and spilled my beer /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Looks awesome, shame its landlocked.

He he, I've played it! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif And Nick Faldo is right, it is beautiful! Only time in my life I've had a caddy and he played off 4!

We think it belongs to the Rowardennan Hotel. Don't know what the Cam House charter boat is but I do know it's a 46 footer.

Also, last I heard the joing fee for LL Golf Club was £55,000 plus £1900 PA subs. It is a beautiful course though and I'd happily pay £100 for a round there. Unfortunately, like Deleted User says, they're pretty elitist. Even members are "discouraged" to use the course more than occasionally. It's certainly not to be used as their primary club which is pretty shocking considering what you must pay to join.

Cor blimey, is there an Azi 55 moored on Loch Lomond (or is it a 50?) /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

No its definately a 55, we went right up close to have a look at her, have to say the occupants were centainly enjoying the good weather, beer and wines, they were tooting the horn, shouting about and theres even some silly ass sitting up on the Radar arch!!!

The boat belongs to a chap at Rowardennan, who is currently building a new marina, the boat stays on a swing mooring, beside his other boat, a Sealine F37!!

The boat that is leased to Cameron house, used to be a mid sized Sealine, but it too was upgraded to a new at the start of last season, Sealine T51.

Big boats, and oh what a waste on the Loch!!!

Same as Windermere really, most of the big boats are just floating holiday homes. When we were based there I heard a story (possibly apocryphal - I hope so anyway) that an owner of a large Sealine had to get the marina staff to take his boat around to the Holding tank pump out because he couldn't get the boat out of the marina himself.
