Picking crew up from GDG on the 5th

It will be interesting to find out how this ends, Air France say at least 30% of flights cancelled, air traffic controllers out on strike, virtually no public transport running (only 5 metro lines operating a reduced service) roads will be chaotic. It isn't going to end well.

Update:
Got to Folkstone about 17.00 checked in to Westward Ho b+b, (superb by the way!) couple of hours kip. Left there about 01.30 to go to Tunnel. Got had over by the Eurotunnel computer, despite the paperwork saying check in by 02.42, it insisted I was late, need to check in 2 hours before! Cost me another £30! That argument is for Monday! Got to France and started driving. No hassle until daylight when we arrived at an Aire about ten minutes from CDG. Stopped there to await the flight from Mexico. Was watching it on an app on my Iphone. Saw loads of mischievous looking men assembling but also hundreds of cops. They were getting ready for a scrap. Saw the plane land on the app but another 45 mins went by before we got a phone call. Come and get me, went to CDG, no probs, straight to 30 min free arrivals parking and got out of car. There was the crew coming out complete with Dude! Another story later! Painless and no probs! However. Back on the road, stopped to water and walk the Dude! Then carried on. Saw lots of blue lights as they headed towards Paris but nothing till we got to the Peage before Calais. Then we saw, 8kms of camions lined up in the inside lane with the outside lane still open to private cars! We trickled through. They were after the trucks, with the opposite carriageway heading from Calais completely blocked.
We got through slowly and arrived in Calais early, we willingly paid the extra £30 to go early and get outa there! A big thanks to all the sensible people on here for their welcome advice. We drove just over 1000 miles in 36 hours, it was ball breaking, Im getting too old for it! The strike, we got lucky, another couple of hours and we would have been stuffed!

Glad you survived, I am flying out of Lyon this coming Tuesday and back on Thursday, keeping my fingers crossed.

:encouragement:
Plus of course as the header says “Chat about cruising, debate this month's hot topic.” I would hazard a guess that one of this months “hot topic” for any yotties contemplating using Frances’ transport system would be the strike and how to get around it? Of course there are always the jobsworths, I keep them on ignore, who like to make unpleasant comments that I only see when someone quotes them, who cant resist having a go!
