If he's not a specialist, may I pass on some advice from the now-retired chap who did mine, who was a specialist:
Whatever you do, be sure to select a material that is 100% man made fibre - anything with even a little cotton or linen in it will start to mildrew sooner or later.
And, obviously, have them made with zips so that you can wash them from time to time.
